After the thrill is gone: Work
Mother and Child
2025
Mother and Child reimagines the Virgin Mary and Jesus through my own body, disrupting these long-held symbols by queering them and offering hope through holding myself. The portrayal of Christ challenges how religion shapes identity in American life and addresses the artificial nature of the American landscape, a place of myth and contradiction. The work reflects the tension between creation and destruction, exploring the potential for new identities to emerge from the ruins of these myths.
