Francisco Javier Ramírez

(Mexico City, 1991)

 

Lives and works in Brooklyn, NY. Interdisciplinary visual artist. Graduated in Design and Visual Communication from UNAM, holds a certificate in Contemporary Photography from Academia de San Carlos, and is pursuing a master's degree in Visual Arts from Columbia University. Transformation is a constant subject within his work. As a member of both LGBTQ+ and immigrant communities Francisco has experienced the fluidity of identity, often navigating a journey of self-discovery and acceptance. Ramirez’ practice addresses these issues through photography, painting, printmaking, and book arts. He has exhibited in Mexico, United States, Italy and France, highlighting Unfinished: New Prints 2022/Winter at Print Center New York. Their zines and photo books have been presented at the LA Printed Matter Art Book Fair, Brooklyn Art Book Fair, and ZONA MACO Libros, amongst others. In 2023 he published the artist book Ojos que no ven which was selected as a finalist for the Best Latin American Publication award at FELIFA Festival.
